So I have obsessed about throwing away any felt scraps, they are wool, upcycled or eco-felt all of which are expensive and being an old hippie, I live to recycle. Sooooo I was looking around the Hobby Lobby and discovered this little bracelet with squares that were just screaming to be filled in with little embellished squares of felt. When I say little, I mean little. The squares are about 1/2" square so even the smallest scraps of felt can be used. Blissful smile! The bracelets are less than $5.00 and are adjustable.

So it is really hard to talk about gears without talking about Tim Holtz. He designs great die cuts and he has these really sweet little gears, keys, latches, watch faces......you name it, he already thought of it. I have a little divided box in my studio that has a little of everything from the world of Tim. Something great is always inspired by his embellishments. Anyway I decided that felt gears and brass gears should come together in the perfect storm of creativity and with some embroidery and the final touch of attaching them to a suede necklace, they would become industrial jewelry.

Crazy, fun felt tooth fairy pillow
So I decided that boys get a raw deal on cool handmade things. So I decided to design a tooth fairy pillow with a more boyish theme. Yeah I know, there are girls that love robots too. Anyway I used wool felt and some small buttons and of course embroidery floss because it just has to be hand embroidered to be an heirloom (at least that is how I feel). I assembled the whole deal and put a small pocket on the back so that a monetary stipend could be left and I put a ribbon loop so that it can be hung up, will make the rooting around under the pillow a bit easier.
Check back as I continue to design in the hopes that I will be taking some of this stuff to the Renegade Fair in Brooklyn NY in June.
